On October 2, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met in Doha with the Minister of State for International Cooperation of the State of Qatar, Vice-Chairman of the Qatar Fund for Development Ms. Lolwah Al-Khater.
At the meeting, the issues of strengthening cooperation between Tajikistan and the reputable aid institution were discussed.
President Emomali Rahmon called the State of Qatar one of the most important commercial, economic and investment partners of Tajikistan, confidently stating that the cooperation between our country and the Qatar Fund for Development will expand significantly.
The parties exchanged views on Qatar’s investment in energy, industry, agriculture and other priority sectors of Tajikistan’s economy.
Attracting capital to mineral extraction and processing projects, establishment of enterprises for the production and export of environmentally friendly agricultural products and clean drinking water to Qatar were among the topics of discussion.
The participation of Qatari investors in the implementation of projects of strengthening and expansion of tourism infrastructure and the pharmaceutical industry in Tajikistan was welcomed.
It was emphasized that the establishment of the “Joint Economic and Investment Fund” in order to finance the priority projects of Tajikistan will be beneficial.
The parties also had a fruitful discussion on other areas of future cooperation.
