Over the past five years, more than 3.9 million tourists have entered Tajikistan.

To date, the number of foreign citizens who arrived in the Republic of Tajikistan for business and tourism purposes is 627 thousand 931 people, of which 487 thousand 403 people are registered as tourists, reports AMIT “Khovar” with reference to the Committee for Tourism Development. under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Today, September 27, is World Tourism Day. Its purpose is to promote tourism, reflect its role in the development of national and global economies, and develop relationships between people in all parts of the world.

As Xinhua reported in May this year, the number of tourist trips worldwide will exceed 10 billion in 2023. Global tourism revenues will reach $5 trillion this year, up 86.2 percent from 2019 levels, according to a report released by the Tourism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the World Federation of Cities.

According to the report, the number of tourist trips worldwide in 2022 will be 9.57 billion, and total tourism income will reach 4.6 trillion US dollars.

Development of tourism in Tajikistan

In the world, after oil and pharmaceuticals, income from international tourism ranks third and accounts for 30% of service exports. Tourism, as a proven means of attracting domestic and foreign investment, is considered an industry that creates new jobs, a source of income for the population, and enriches the state budget in the field of economic and social development. In other words, in the context of globalization, tourism has gained a stable position and has become a favorite and constant activity of the planet’s inhabitants.

Taking into account these factors and in order to improve the socio-economic situation of the regions of the country, provide productive employment to the population and increase the level of economic activity of residents on the initiative of the President of the Republic. Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, 2018 has been declared the Year of Development of Tourism and Folk Crafts, and 2019-2021 has been declared the development of rural areas, tourism and crafts, which is evidence of the growing interest of the Government of the country in the field of tourism.

That is why over the past five years more than 3.9 million people have arrived in the Republic of Tajikistan, including 1 million tourists in 2022. During this period, more than 600 tourist infrastructure facilities were used to service them, and in 2022 alone, 100 tourism infrastructure facilities were put into operation.

We remind you that from January 1, 2022, in order to attract more tourists and foreign investors, Tajikistan introduced a unilateral visa-free entry initiative for citizens of 52 foreign countries, which is being effectively implemented. At the same time, for this purpose, citizens of 126 foreign countries are offered visas of the Republic of Tajikistan in a simplified manner.

In the message of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon to the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the main directions of the domestic and foreign policy of the Republic” (12/23/2022), he emphasized that in order to ensure the further development of the tourism industry, it is necessary for the Committee for Tourism Development to increase the list of tourism services, to increase level and quality of services in the field, implement therapeutic, environmental and mountaineering activities. tourism.

As you know, the Republic of Tajikistan with its high mountains has become famous in the world as a country with clean air, healing waters, lakes and rivers, clear springs and unique landscapes that attract the attention of tourists. Half of Tajikistan’s lands are at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters, where plants and animals can occasionally be found. The highest mountain in Tajikistan is the peak of Ismail Somoni (former Communism) – 7495 meters, which is the highest in the countries of Central Asia. The other end of the heavenly mountain is the peak of Abu Ali ibn Sina, whose height is 7134 meters. The peaks of Kornizhevsky with a height of 7105 meters and others are also known. The highest peaks of Central Asia are the Pamir Mountains, 800 km long and 5000-7000 meters above sea level. The Pamir region, also called the “Roof of the World,” has mostly barren mountains and rocks and slow-moving rivers. Perennial glaciers and snow are located on many of the peaks of these mountains and form the source of the Amu River.

By the way, in 2014, Forbes magazine included one of the famous mountains and the highest peak of Central Asia – Ismaili Somoni Peak in the list of 14 most unusual places, as well as the magazine “Top 100 Pamir Mountains” in the list of the most interesting places in the world.

It should be noted that mountaineering tourism is considered one of the priority areas for the development of tourism in Tajikistan, and the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan is constantly taking the necessary measures to attract lovers of this type of tourism. .

Analyzes show that foreign tourists coming to Tajikistan are more interested in eco-tourism, mountaineering and hunting.

Currently, there are 246 travel companies, 191 hotels, 26 hostels (hotels) and motels (roadside hotels for drivers), 1 campsite (camp) and 5 tourist and recreational bases operating in the tourism market providing services to climbers.

Domestic tourism covers 75-80 percent of the total number of tourists in the world.

All over the world, domestic tourism even surpasses international tourism in scope. Domestic tourism in Tajikistan is developing every year. In terms of share, domestic tourism accounts for 75-80 percent of the total number of tourists in the world. Domestic tourism will have a significant impact on the development and expansion of inbound tourism, so that residents become fully acquainted with the country’s tourism opportunities, get acquainted with the life and activities of residents of other regions, ancient culture and civilization. More than 3,000 registered historical and cultural monuments and specially protected natural areas contribute to the development of domestic and international tourism in Tajikistan. The Committee for Tourism Development, within its competence, in accordance with the goals of the Tourism Development Strategy in the Republic of Tajikistan for the period until 2030, cooperates with international organizations in adapting the country’s tourism products to international standards.

Considering that Tajikistan has a unique nature, its proper presentation in the international arena contributes to the development of the industry and attracting more domestic and foreign tourists. In this process, the creation of domestic tourism can influence the development of tourism. In Tajikistan, tourism opportunities are very wide and need to be promoted properly and attractively.
