On October 10, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received in the Palace of the Nation the heads of parliamentary delegations – participants of the International Parliamentary Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan.
First, the Honorable Head of State Emomali Rahmon welcomed the leaders of the parliamentary delegations to Tajikistan.
Honorable President of the country Emomali Rahmon spoke at the meeting on the adoption of an important and fateful document – the Constitution and its role in the development of parliamentarism of the independent state of Tajikistan.
The Leader of the Nation called the adoption of the Constitution one of the first and stable steps of our society in the way of political reforms and strengthening of the state independence of Tajikistan.
It was mentioned that in the first years of gaining independence, our country faced enormous political, social and economic problems and forced civil war.
“In such complex conditions, the historic 16th session of the Supreme Council, which elected the new leadership of the country, laid the foundation for national unity and opened the way to a peaceful life, restoration of the constitutional order and legality in our country,” – the Head of State emphasized.
It was stressed that the new Constitution, adopted through a national referendum, introduced Tajikistan to the international community as an independent, democratic, law-based, secular and unified state.
President Emomali Rahmon assessed the role of the new Constitution in the establishment and development of a completely new system of national parliamentarism.
It was said that the Parliament of Tajikistan meets all the requirements of international parliamentarism, actively participates in the international arena and constantly strengthens relations with the parliaments of other countries.
Addressing the participants of the meeting, the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon stated that “your countries are also among our close, reliable and trustworthy partners”.
During the speech, the Honorable Head of State Emomali Rahmon also deliberated on important aspects of cooperation between the countries, such as human relations, based on cultural and historical commonality.
It was emphasized that the legislative bodies of our countries can seriously contribute to the constructive development of this process.
The President stated that through parliamentary friendship groups, Tajikistan has established and is developing its relations with more than 80 parliaments of foreign countries and international parliamentary organizations.
During the speech attention was paid to the cooperation of the parliaments within the framework of international and regional institutions.
In connection with the complex situation of the international community, the President of the country considered close cooperation necessary to protect and strengthen peace and stability and ensure the well-being of the people of our countries.
In his speech, the Honorable Head of State Emomali Rahmon confidently stated that today’s events will serve to define new horizons of broad partnership between the countries.
